What happens to skin as it ages?
What happens to skin as we age serves as a model for how time transforms human tissues. Skin ageing was previously thought to be inevitable. However, it’s increasingly being viewed as something that is with the right treatment, addressable.
Skin cells called keratinocytes in the epidermis (the top layer of the skin) and fibroblasts of the thick, biologically active lower layer of the skin (the dermis) contain, within their nuclei, the blueprints for making healthy skin. Ageing happens when the blueprint is damaged and when the blueprint stops being read properly.

Part 1: Delivering cold near-infrared laser light at 808nm to support regeneration
The problem
Skin cells become less active. The speed at which cells make the ‘building blocks’ of healthy skin slows down and the rate these ‘building blocks’ are broken up speeds up. These ‘building blocks’ are also responsible for attracting water in the skin, therefore having fewer of them means the skin struggles to hold onto water and skin becomes less hydrated.

The problem
