5 Signs You’re Suffering With Anxiety

Anxiety symptoms and how to reduce them.

Generalised anxiety (GAD) reportedly affects up to 20% of people in the world today. Do you think you might be suffering from anxiety? What are the signs and symptoms to watch out for? And how can you find relief from anxiety?

Some anxiety symptoms are easier to spot than others, and some anxiety signs are more widely discussed. A reduced sex drive, for example, can be a symptom of anxiety but it may not be discussed as readily as, say, reduced appetite or feeling more fatigued than usual.

Yes, some instances of anxiety are severe enough to warrant medical intervention. However, if you’re looking for ways to reduce anxiety through food, or are interested in using supplements to help treat your anxiety, you’ve come to the right place.

Here we outline five of the most common anxiety symptoms and explain how you can alleviate them without turning to prescription medication.

1. Behavioural symptoms such as panic, dizziness and feeling restless

These are some of the most common symptoms reported by people suffering with anxiety. You may feel more uptight, tense and less spontaneous than you are used to feeling. Trying to control what’s going on around you can also be a sign that you have anxiety. If panic, feeling nervous, dizzy, experiencing a sense of danger or dread, or feeling fearful are holding you back from day-to-day living and are affecting your quality of life, then intervention is necessary.

Ashwagandha is an Ayurvedic plant extract that has been taken for centuries to cure psycho-physical symptoms such as those outlined above. Daily supplementation with ashwagandha provides adaptogenic benefits above and beyond those that can be obtained via diet or meditation (although both are useful interventions in their own right) and can help to mitigate anxiety and its symptoms, helping you to feel more balanced as you go about your daily life.

Ashwagandha also helps to regulate cortisol, the body’s stress hormone, resulting in reduced inflammation, lowered adrenaline and a decreased heart rate; the combination of which can alleviate some of the behavioural symptoms associated with generalised anxiety.

LYMA contains patented extract Sensoril® ashwagandha in its most natural and bioavailable form, and several clinical trials have confirmed its superior benefits for human health and wellbeing . In one 6-week study, 88% of people who supplemented with ashwagandha reported a reduction in anxiety, compared with 50% of those who took a placebo.

2. Difficulty concentrating

Focus can be really difficult if you’re suffering from anxiety. Your mind can run at 100mph and can be thinking and worrying about a myriad of things that are not what’s going on in front of you and can distract you from the task at hand. It can sidetrack you from your work, divert your attention away from your friends, family and loved ones, and reduce your ability to enjoy television, books, food and other hobbies.

LYMA’s formula contains potent nootropic, and brain-health powerhouse, Cognizin®. Cognizin® is a patented form of citicoline that has been clinically proven to support and enhance concentration and attention. Supplementing with cognizin® is a safe and natural way to keep your brain balanced, healthy and alert to your environment, particularly when you’re feeling under stress in the face of poor mental wellbeing.

3. Rapid breathing and increased heart rate

Rapid breathing isn’t experienced by everyone but it can be incredibly scary and can, in fact, be one of the first signs that you might be about to have a panic attack. The best thing to do if your breathing becomes fast or erratic is to stop what you are doing immediately, to sit down, and to practice one of these breathing techniques. If you need somebody to sit with you while you work through these then reach out to somebody nearby.

It can be enormously helpful to incorporate breathing exercises into your daily routine preemptively too, as well as meditating and watching your intake of caffeine, alcohol and sugar: coffee, booze and refined carbohydrates can all increase levels of inflammation in the body which has a knock-on effect for your heart rate and breathing.

In the long-run, supplementing with Ashwagandha can help to reduce incidence of rapid breathing as it works to moderate your stress responses and to help your body to adapt to new sensory information in a more productive and less damaging way.

4. Digestive issues

Gut issues, irritable bowel syndrome (IBD) and other digestive problems are common side-effects of anxiety. Most of your body’s serotonin - your happy hormone - is manufactured in the gut. When your mental wellbeing is out of whack, it stands to reason that your gut health will be too.

The microbiome communicates directly with the brain and research shows that taking a probiotic supplement to increase the amount of healthy gut bacteria you have can alleviate depression and anxiety.

A dearth of healthy gut bacteria can contribute to elevated levels of inflammation, and increased inflammation can, in turn, contribute to anxiety. As well as Sensoril®Ashwagandha, LYMA also contains HydroCurc®: the most bioavailable and effective form of curcumin on the market. Curcumin is the active anti-inflammatory compound found in turmeric. It is notoriously difficult to absorb curcumin through diet alone, and HydroCurc® has been shown to be up to 250% more bioavailable than curcumin from turmeric.

Both HydroCurc® and Sensoril®ashwagandha are backed by peer-reviewed clinical evidence confirming their proclivity to ward off stress and inflammation, and thus to enhance anxiety resilience.

5. Trouble sleeping

Sleep problems and insomnia are common amongst people suffering from anxiety. Insomnia or trouble sleeping can be both a symptom and a cause of anxiety and the dizziness associated to it. This is because, whilst excessive worrying and trepidation can prevent you from getting a good night’s sleep, a lack of sleep is also one of the leading causes of inflammation. Inflammation, as we have come to see, is a leading cause of anxiety. It can be somewhat of a vicious cycle.

Sensoril® ashwagandha, as formulated in LYMA at 250mg, has been clinically dosed to enhance your natural sleep cycle and to support you to both fall asleep more easily, and to help you stay asleep throughout the night.

LYMA’s formula ingredients, perhaps most notably Sensoril®ashwagandha, can be said to have anti-anxiety and antidepressant qualities. Supplementing daily with LYMA can be an effective and natural way to maintain mental resilience and stabilise - or even elevate - your mood. LYMA’s potent combination of patented ingredients - most notably Sensoril® ashwagandha, HydroCurc® and Cognizin® - can help to alleviate many of the symptoms associated with anxiety in adults, and can help you thrive in a busy world.

Always consult your medical professional if you have a medical condition, or existing health protocol, before beginning any new supplementation regime.
