“I’m not easily impressed… But this has really impressed me.”
Why nutritionist Rose Ferguson rates LYMA ID²
She built a career on knowing what works - and what doesn't. After decades in the industry and years in clinic, the former 90s supermodel turned Functional Medicine Practitioner is not an easy woman to win over. LYMA ID² managed it.
There is a particular kind of scepticism that only comes from experience. Rose Ferguson has it in abundance.
"I see so many products, and I'm quite hard to please," she says. "But that comes from having tried so many. I know what works. I know what ingredients should be in there. I know what a good, balanced supplement looks like - and that comes from years of experience in clinic and with clients."
It is exactly that qualification that makes her praise worth listening to. Scouted at fifteen, Ferguson became one of the defining faces of nineties fashion. She featured in campaigns for Miu Miu and Prada, runways for Galliano, Versace, Chanel and McQueen, covers for Vogue, Elle and The Face. Then she decided to walk away and retrain.
Three years studying nutrition and naturopathy, three more in functional medicine, and an MSc in Advanced Nutrition Research and Practice on top. Today she runs a successful clinical practice in London, contributes to British Vogue, and is the founder of R Health Club.
Few people make the move from modelling to nutrition, and fewer still with qualifications like those. When Rose says she isn't easily impressed, it isn't a turn of phrase. It's a professional standard.
Which is what makes her verdict on LYMA ID² worth pausing on.
"I'm not easily impressed," she says. "But this has really impressed me."
The difference she noticed first
For Rose, one of the earliest and most welcome changes was something a great many people quietly live with and rarely talk about.
"Bloating - I haven't had any," she says simply. "Any bloating I do have is reduced."
It's a small sentence with a large meaning for anyone who has spent years troubleshooting their own digestion - and a telling one, coming from a practitioner who scrutinises everything she takes.
The afternoon test
For years, the afternoon was where Ferguson's energy fell away. That changed.
"I've found it really useful for afternoon energy, which is something I've always struggled with," she says. "That afternoon crash is less. I feel more resilient - my energy feels more stable through the day."
There's a mechanism behind that. LYMA ID² delivers a complete chelated mineral architecture at 100% NRV, including magnesium and iron: nutrients that contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Not a stimulant spike, but the steadier kind of energy that comes from a body that's properly nourished.
Ferguson also describes sleeping better and feeling, in her words, "stronger systemically".
A formula that earns a practitioner's respect.
It's the composition, though, that wins over the clinician in her.
"The ingredient list in here is pretty spectacular," she says.
LYMA ID² was engineered to nourish the entire gastrointestinal system rather than a single section of it. Its four multi-length prebiotic fibres are designed to feed all four chambers of the colon - not one, but all of them. It is the first gut powder of its kind to do this. Alongside them sits a rare algae-derived DHA at 250mg, which contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and to normal vision, protected on its journey by Oleacore®, LYMA's patented olive polyphenol extract. The chelated minerals, including selenium, zinc, copper and manganese, contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress, while zinc, selenium and copper contribute to the normal function of the immune system.
For Ferguson, the detail that matters most is one of credibility.
"There are also patented and clinically studied ingredients," she says, "which I think is really important to know."
And - yes - it tastes good
A point she's keen to make, with the candour of someone who has swallowed her share of unpleasant formulas.
"It tastes really nice - and some don't, let's be honest," she says. "It's got a lovely grapefruit-orange flavour."
The bottom line
What ultimately earns Ferguson's respect is the philosophy beneath the formula.
"Being led by science and innovation - that's something I really respect LYMA for."
From one of wellness's most discerning voices, that's no small endorsement. LYMA ID². The science of superhuman.
Now I'm hooked on the entire LYMA Youth System. The Supplement has helped because I have noticed my hair is fuller and longer. To be honest, I have a lot of hair, but I had been getting hair extensions, even though this often made my hairdresser laugh. Since taking the Supplement, I have scrapped the extensions because my mane is out of control, long, and thick. Even my mother, my harshest critic, has noticed that my skin looks fantastic. This is the mother who once frankly told me I had a lot of spots after I returned from a year in China, living in Beijing, where the pollution wreaked havoc on my complexion. Over the last few weeks, she has been beaming with pride and telling me how good I am looking. I have even struggled to know when my period is coming because my regular breakouts are not as noticeable.
Two and a half months in, I'm a complete convert
Now I am a complete convert to LYMA, and it takes a lot for me to commit to one company when it comes to skincare – I am usually a tad promiscuous. After two and a half months, I am still using all the products religiously, and my wellbeing and mood have also seen an uptick. LYMA's ecosystem has been a game-changer for me, offering a comprehensive approach to beauty and wellness that integrates their supplements, laser technology, and skincare products seamlessly.
There's so much out there now that it's harder than ever for consumers to know who is genuine in the beauty industry and who is just selling you snake oil, so I hope this review can be a guide for those looking to distinguish between this excellent product and ones that will cost you a lot and give you very little.
