Ashwagandha also known as “Indian Ginseng” and “Indian winter cherry” has been used for a long time and with good reason, tracing back to 6000BC. The powerful herb has been relied upon for the two thousand years by the people of India, Middle East and North Africa for vitality and health, both in mind and body.
It plays a crucial role in overall physical and mental well-being, positively and happiness. The high levels of strong antioxidants aid to fight against cellular damage resulting from free radicals and clinical studies have shown it is extremely effective in decreasing disease brought on by stress. These anti-stress properties have been shown to enhance and increase physical endurance and have impressive capabilities to help lower cortisol. This will have a beneficial impact on all strength training, fitness and sport.
Ashwagandha can calm the mind and reduce anxiety. It demonstrates anti-depressant properties and can act as a natural way to control, stabilise and elevate mood. The anti-stress properties also result in better quality sleep, which then enables better recovery, improved state of mind and higher energy levels.
The anti-inflammatory effects of Ashwagandha have been well researched. It can directly target the nervous system and in turn, reduce pain naturally. The strong anti-arthritic properties can help with people suffering from arthritis and other inflammatory conditions.
Ashwagandha also has an impact on fertility, especially for men. It has been reported to increase testosterone and improve sperm count, both in numbers and mobility.
For mental focus and energy, Ashwagandha can be very effective. It can help to improve memory and cognition and has a great bonus of no crashing or jitters, like caffeine.
